SimulTrans Achieved EN 15038 Certification

SimulTrans is pleased to announce we have been officially certified EN 15038 compliant as of April 23, 2009. Continuing in our tradition of quality, this is SimulTrans’ second certification in under a year (the first being ISO 9001:2000 certification last summer).
EN 15038 is a European specific standard that was developed by the European Committee for Standardization in 2006. This is the first European standard to identify the requirements organizations need to provide the best quality translation services.
In many ways, EN 15038 is even more relevant than ISO 9001 for the localization industry. While ISO 9001 is a set of quality standards that can be applied to many industries, EN 15038 was exclusively designed to apply to the translation industry. EN 15038 servers and aims to standardize terminology, define basic requirements for services, and create a framework for interaction between customers and services providers.
During our evaluation, ISO Quality Services Ltd. (an independent auditor) rigorously reviewed SimulTrans’ systems and processes in the following areas:

- Final Linguistic review
- Help Production
- Translation and Editing

Furthermore, the auditor reviewed how SimulTrans manages our level of service products across all vendors, management, information technology and translation services. There was a review of languages offered, skill levels (standard, technical, medical), training in information technology and translation skills (in house and across the vendors).
